In the neighbourhood it is possible to practice a great range of sports:
- Ski
The highest number of ski- facilities is in L’Aquila district but there many important ones in Gran Sasso and Majella massifs too. Roccaraso and Pescasseroli are appreciated for their “elegance”while Campo Felice and Aremogna have more technological ski-facilities. Campo Imperatore and Prati di Tivo are known for Gran Sasso magical environments while Blockhaus and Maielletta for the pleasure to ski looking at the sea.
- Mountaineriing
Gran Sasso, the Majella massif and the National Park of Abruzzo offer the ideal landscape for the practice of trekking. Mountain and hills welcome with fascinating itineraries for entertaining holidays in hystorical evocatives villages.
- Windsurf
In Abruzzo the mountains coexist harmoniously with the sea. The beach stretches for a hundred and thirty kilometers with the sea cliff serving as a continuous backdrop. Windsurf lovers are attracted by beaches but also by lakes in the heart of Appennino.
- Sail
The sea wind that helpes windsurf lovers is a precious allied for sail lovers too. Sailing is possible everywhere along the Adriatic sea. Abruzzo’s coasts offer touristic ports in Pescara, Martinsicuro, Giulianova, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Ortona and Vasto.
- Canoe
Canoe is another sport that can be enjoyed tanks to the sea breezes. The best area to practice this sport is the southern coast, Ortona, Punta of Cavalluccio and Punta Aderci. In the hinterland it is possible the choise is between Scanno, Barrea and Campotosto lakes. The best rivers for paddleball are the Aterno, the Tirino, the Pescara and the Sangro ones.
- Sporting Flying
Flying passionates can find the best background to practice their favourite sport at the Gran Sasso and the Sirente Velino slopes. Leaving from the L’Aquila or the Pescara airport it is easy to joint those mountains for hang gliding and parasailing.
